Winom-Frazier and Desolation OHV Map

All Winom-Frazier OHV Complex trails are for Class I (OHV’s <50″) and III only

  • ABC Trails EASY (Class I): In reality a collection of roads linking parts of Christensen (3185), Sheep Creek (1945), Outlaw (1932A), and Big Ridge (1932) together.  Letter signs are limited at this time.

  • ATV Loop Trail 1952EASY: (Class I) A loop off of Frazier Creek (3192) that offers some great views and extra seat time

  • Big Ridge 1932: EASY (Class I) SE connecting trail from Lookout/Little Fly (1939) to Chicken Hill (1941)

  • Butcher Knife 3189  EASY:  (Class I) Main Trail out of Frazier Campground, can be rocky in places

  • Cable Creek 3152: MODERATE:  (Class I) This trail is what remains after the wilderness restriction of 1984 of fairly old trail. Becoming more narrow with brush, leads into Class III (motorcycle) trails

  • Chicken Hill 1941: EASY (Class I) A long dead ending trail (at this time) ending on Forest Hwy 51

  • Chimney Rock 3167  BLACK DIAMOND (Class III) South section from Cable Creek is Class III to junction with Hideaway (3154), then is EASY (Class I) north to Frazier (3192).  Class III section has steep side hill cross section and switchbacks.

  • Christensen Trail 3185: MODERATE: ((Class I) This trail is named after Legacy Members Harry and Iris Christensen and their extended family as their work and dedication to the creation of this trail and for their steadfast support of the club.

  • Cut Across Trail 3158  MODERATE: (Class I) This trail connects Woop-De-Doo (3145) and Round Meadows (3155).  Crosses Hwy 52 and includes a BLACK DIAMOND alternate route in the South section.  River Trail (3043) comes off of it

  • Frazier Creek Trail 3192: EASY:  (Class I) This trail connects Lehman (3188) to the Wallowa-Whitman part of the OHV complex.  Video

  • Hidaway Meadows Trail 3154: MODERATE: (Class III) An original trail that turns into a Class I at the west end.  Narrow in some areas, known for its sandy hillside section and rock bluff sections

  • Lehman Trail 3188  EASY: (Class I) This trail that junctions with Butcher Knife (3189), heavy use north/south artery

  • Lennis Trail 3157: EASY: (Class I) Lennis is how it is listed on the trail map, but we know it as the Lennis Memorial Trail, specifically named for Lennis Christensen.  Lennis was integral in the establishment of a number of trails created after 1984 for the Winom-Fraizer OHV Complex. Watch for the memorial marker we have placed on this trail.  This is currently our newest trail and is a main north/south artery

  • Line Creek Trail 3190  MODERATE: (Class I) This trail connects Butcher Knife (3189) into Roundaway (3049) and Hideaway (3154) Class III trails

  • Little Fly Creek 1935 MODERATE: (Class III) A side hill alternate to Outlaw (1932A)

  • Lookout Creek Trail 1853  MODERATE: (Class III) Umapine (1950) to Chimney Rock (3167) East/West Artery, narrow with steep climb

  • Lookout/Little Fly 1939 EASY: (Class I) Starting @ Umapine (1939) and ending with Big Ridge (1932)

  • Lookout Ridge 1854 EASY: (Class I) Extra seat time loop off of Lookout/Little Fly (1939)

  • Lost Trail 3150  EASY: (Class I) Connects narrow Cable Creek (3152) to Roundaway (3046) making it really only suitable for Class III use.  Very limited maintenance 

  • Martin Creek Trail 3021  MODERATE: (Class I) An original trail know for a large number of roots and rocks, connects with Meadow Creek (3193) and Packsaddle (3029) to create a loop in the SE part of the complex

  • Meadow Creek Trail 3193  MODERATE: (Class I) Seasonally open between Memorial Day and Labor Day due to Elk Breeding, this trail starts from Big Creek off of Tower Loop (3040) and ends at Martin Creek (3021) @ the 5225 Road.  Originally constructed in just 2 days (!) during the development of the complex.

  • Outlaw 1932A EASY: (Class I) Spectacular views of the Blues to the East combination of old road and new trail climb out of Big Ridge (1932) valley.

  • Pack Saddle Trail 3029  MODERATE: (Class I) What remains open to motorized use of a very old trail that begins at Martin Creek Trail (3021) and ends with the crossing of Forest Hwy 52

  • River Trail 3043  EASY: (Class I) 

  • Round Meadows Trail 3155: EASY (Class I) One of the few older trails that was untouched by the 1984 Wilderness.  Starts @ Forest Hwy 52 and is a main North/South Artery to Lennis (3190), Roundaway (3056), and Woop-De-Doo (3145)

  • Roundaway Trail 3056  BLACK DIAMOND (Class III) The longest Class III trail that starts on Round Meadows (3155) in the south and ends on Hideaway (3154), known for challenging hill climbs and switchbacks

  • Sheep Creek 1945: MODERATE (Class III) An old school narrow single track with limited use. Christensen (3185) to the B Trail/Road

  • Short Cable Trail 3024: BLACK DIAMOND (Class III) An original trail, featuring narrow side hills, switchbacks, and challenging tread in dry conditions.  Here is an older video from the bottom @ Woop De Doo to the top. Video 

  • Tower Loop Trail 3040  EASY: (Class I) The main artery out of Winom Campground, starts @ Woop De Doo (3045) and ends at Christensen (3185).  Gives access to Tower Mt Lookout

  • Umapine Trail 1950  EASY: (Class I) The main artery out of Umapine Campground, know for shale rock on the trail east of the CG, consider more Moderate for inexperienced Class III riders

  • Whoop De Doo Trail 3045: EASY: (Class I) An old trail that started out as the continuation of the Oriental Creek road, but had over 100 water bars placed in it, hence, Whoop De Doo.  Now much narrower than a road now, but still Class I rated, this is one of the main north-south routes of the system

PROPOSED TRAILS:

  • Oriental Creek OHV loop trail: This is a current project of the Umatilla National Forest and NWTRA that is offically ON HOLD.  The NWTRA is still pressing forward on this project.  The Proposed Trail would be an alternate path with the River Trail 3043 to create an ATV friendly loop.
