In September of 2012, some of our club members visited the Breshears OHV Trails which are located approximately 28 miles from LaGrande, Oregon. There are no designated Trailheads but access is available from junctions off Forest 500 and 6220 roads. Breshears is a small, family system of motorized trails offering approximately 20 miles of easy-moderate difficulty ATV trails that are usually maintained by The Eastern Oregon All Terrain Vehicle Association (EOATVA) Approximately 40% are single track trails and 60% are very low-standard roads. Mostly these members have used the 62 Road to the 6205. See MAP
In Sept of 2012, everything was dry, these trails included, but there tread condition was good. A number of spots on the trails were plagued at the time with the need to brush back the trails. One thing great about this system is their are a number of locations that offer terrific views of LaGrande valley and also the Minum. Even with the gravel road access, these offer a varity of conditions for all skill levels and are worth a return trip. Since our last trip, the EOATVA has been back into the Breshears Trail to do as much as the snow would allow, with plans on continuing to work on the trail early in 2014.
